Development Coordinator

Job Responsibilities:

Administration

 

      • Recommends to the Development Manager and Executive Directors fundraising strategies, ways of controlling costs and increasing donations.
      • Developing mail out lists, update and maintain the database for accuracy, timely distribution and ensures that fundraising lists are maintained.
      • Is the primary in bound call representation for the NPF office.
      • Assist the Development Managerto implement the needs of the NNMCC and NSHCS into compelling fundraising messages.
      • Supports the Development Manager in supporting volunteer solicitorsregarding their cultivation, communication, and ask process.
      • Implements target communication pieces and information packages for constituents and prospects.
      • Ensures that the stewardship of all donations are represented fully and in a timely manner.
      • Coordinates the day to day operational needs of the NPF office that includes donation receipting, bank deposits, internal communication with NNMCC (Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre) and NSHCHS (Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society).
      • Assists in annual NNMCC Christmas Tree sponsorship campaign.
      • Assist and support annual fundraising events, including Sakura Gala, Community Awards Dinner, Matsuri and Nikkei Place Golf Tournament

 

  • Membership

 

    • Coordinates the membership aspects of NNMCC including data base management,  transitioning to donors, and membership drives.

 

  • Grants
  • Prepares proposal requests for funding and assists in the preparation of grant applications.

 

 

  • Marketing

 

    • Contributes to the preparation of marketing tools and fund development collateral materials
    • Assists in the preparation of announcements or invitations for special events
    • Ensures there is a translation of English materials to Japanese text

 

  • Clerical

 

    • As part of the NPF team, is the primary contact for answering and screening incoming telephone calls.

 

  • Human Resources

 

    • Oversees and coordinates volunteer fundraising committees and supports, mentors volunteers in the department.

 

  • Other

 

    • Sits on committees and attends meetings as requested by the Board.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Board.
    • Understands the importance of and maintains confidentiality.
    • Maintains and develops cooperative relationships with the Nikkei Seniors Health Care and Housing Society and Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre
    • Ability to foster respect for the spirit, dignity and individuality of members of the public and the Nikkei community.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, promote harmonious working relationships among all employees, and create a working climate that promotes confidence and cooperation.

 

Nikkei Place Concierge

Nikkei Place is currently seeking an individual who will lead the concierge needs of the organisation and lead the ongoing volunteerism development area  to transition the Nikkei National Museum and  Cultural Centre into  a welcoming centre for those that need  cultural support such as New Immigrant Info, Museum and Education Programming info, rental info. Additionally the position will support and coordinate the volunteer needs of  Nikkei Home seniors programming and senior outreach.

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively promote the benefits of Nikkei Place volunteerism
  • Coordination of a robust volunteer recruitment program
  • Support and act as an ambassador for Nikkei Place volunteerism
  • Continuous development of the Nikkei Place volunteer data base.
  • Lead the development of the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre Welcoming Kiosk.
  •  Seamlessly move through the needs of seniors and cultural volunteer programming needs.
  • Support the volunteer requirements of Nikkei Home and Nikkei Centre events.
  • Facilitate regular meetings of staff with Nikkei Home and Nikkei Centre to ensure that the policy and programs support best practice for volunteerism.
  • The ability to coordinate a screening program that will include police background checks
  • A working command of the Japanese language would be a strong asset.
  • Comfortable in a multi task environment that supports culture and care in a wide age range
  • This is a part time position with a salary range of $12.50-$13.50 per hour
