Free drop-in program for families, inspired by gallery exhibits and seasonal Japanese events. We provide Japanese traditional toys to play with as well as teach origami. Every month we introduce a special craft to create in relation to the gallery exhibits.
Sunday, April 23, 12-4pm
This month’s activity is inspired by Cindy Mochizuki’s Rock, Paper, Scissors exhibition. In the chapter Scissors which is set in the future – the year 2100, there lives a 30′ Giant in a tatara steel factory. He is friendly and makes the sharpest scissors, which he uses to cut holes in time. The Giant likes to hum and sing, and he likes mandarin oranges and stinger fish! What might he look like? Using water and ink, let’s create a magical giant.
