This feature documentary will trace the life of the Great Northern Cannery from its birth at the dawn of the British Columbia fishing industry to its closing in 1968. Scores of men, women and families from a variety of ethnic backgrounds lived and worked at the Great Northern Cannery. It was the only industry permitted in the picturesque community of West Vancouver. Through the stories of the people who lived and died, who worked and played here for close to 80 years, the world within the “Walled City” is vividly restored to life.
