Set in the Shuswap in 1944 on the Calhoun Farm, where a number of Japanese-Canadian families spent the war, this graphic novel tells the story of a teenage girl, Toshiko, and her friendship with a local farm boy. When their romance becomes a scandal, his racist father kicks him out and they set off together for Vancouver to try to make a life together before the reality of wartime closes in on them.
