The Spring Bazaar at Nikkei Centre is returning on Saturday, May 13 from 11am-4pm. Shoppers come out to discover Japanese items, tastes, and plants. If you have something for sale, we welcome you to join our event as a vendor. This event has three aspects:
- flea market vendors
- food market vendors
- plant sales
What is the Nikkei Spring Bazaar
The Nikkei Spring Bazaar is hosted by the NNMCC together with the NNMCC Auxiliary volunteer group, as a place to discover Japanese items, spring plants, and Nikkei food at reasonable prices. Admission will be free for the public.
The Flea Market includes tables of public vendors as well as tables by the NNMCC Auxiliary volunteer group. The NNMCC Auxiliary typically sells new and gently used Japanese items generously donated by our supporters, such as tableware, home decor, Japanese dolls, kimono and yukata. Public vendors are welcome to sell non-Japanese items.
Food is always a popular part of our events. Public vendors have either an in-door table or an outdoor tent, to sell packaged or ready-to-eat food. We usually have space for one food truck. NNMCC Auxiliary volunteers usually prepare a variety of tasty Nikkei foods including their signature manju.
Spring Plants, donated by community gardeners, are sold by NNMCC Auxiliary volunteers. A variety of plants will be on sale including flowers, vegetables and herbs. Japanese plants like Shiso and Japanese kabocha are often available.
