New Year Message from Karah Foster, Executive Director

Happy New Year! May this Year of the Dragon bring strength, health, and good fortune to you and your families.

In the Year of the Rabbit, we hopped along, little by little, with optimism and determination, initiating new activities, programming, and significant projects. All the while, behind the scenes, we focused on ensuring our building received the necessary attention. Staff diligently worked to remove years of accumulated storage—a process that continues in 2024—while maintenance and repairs to our HVAC system, garden pond, and other areas of the facility received the necessary attention.
This year, we look forward to expanding new programs, the return of seasonal markets and cultural events, essential updates to the building and amenities, delving deeper into Japanese Canadian Legacies Society funded projects, and sharing our progress with all of you. Be sure to visit our Karasawa Gallery to view The Superlative Artistry of Japan exhibit before it closes January 20th!
Many thanks to our volunteers, donors, supporters, and partners—let’s continue to work together to make the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre a vibrant hub at Nikkei Place for arts, culture, heritage, and history.
