The Nikkei National Museum is developing a multimedia online exhibit for the Virtual Museum of Canada inspired by over 300 protest letters written by Japanese Canadians opposing the forced sale of their property in the 1940s. “Writing Wrongs” will launch in 2019 and use multimedia technology, interviews, archival documents and photographs, and art to give context to these letters, from the hopes and dreams of Japanese immigrants to Canada in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to the relevance of this story to contemporary issues today. We are currently seeking to make connections with descendants of the authors of these letters.
