We honour our community leaders.
Join us for an evening of community celebration, where over 250 supporters, friends, and families will gather to honour four Nikkei (Japanese Canadian and Japanese) community leaders for their immense contributions in building a strong and vibrant community for all.
The proceeds from this fundraising dinner will support Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (NNMCC) and the cultural programs and activities that are enjoyed by all, from young kids and families to seniors alike.
Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre remembers the past and celebrates the present.
This year marks a pivotal moment in our community — the 30th Anniversary of Japanese Canadian Redress.
Many people doubted redress could ever happen, but with the hard work of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) Strategy Committee and many grassroots community members, a formal apology and settlement for the injustices of the 1940s came to be in 1988. We remember those moments — the people who lived through them, and how, as a community, we persevered.
Keynote Speech
Art Miki will present a keynote address as president of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) during Redress.
2018 Award Recipients
The six members of the NAJC's Strategy Committee will receive the Outstanding Community Service Award for their leadership roles as representatives of the larger community:

- Art Miki
- Roy Miki
- Roger Obata (recognized posthumously)
- Maryka Omatsu
The work of the NNMCC is to continue to honour, preserve and share this history, serving to educate and connect people to community and the history, heritage, and culture of Japanese Canadians.
