This year we are acknowledging
105 years since the enlistment of the Japanese Canadian volunteers for the First World War in 1916 in Alberta, after they were disbanded after five months of training in Vancouver.
90 years since those JC First World War Veterans acquired the vote for veterans only, the first Asian group to do so by a slim margin in the legislature in April 1931.
80 years since Canada declared war on Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December, 1941, which started the Internment period of Japanese Canadians.
