On November 2, Kanpai! Sake Celebration brought together sake enthusiasts, food lovers, and cultural aficionados. The evening was a sensory experience, with a diverse range of sakes from local and international producers. Attendees had the opportunity to sample a variety of flavours, from delicate and refined to bold and robust. To complement the exquisite sakes, a selection of delectable dishes from local vendors tantalised the taste buds. From savoury ramen to elegant French pastries, there was something to satisfy every palate.
Beyond the sake and food, the event offered a rich cultural experience. Live performances, including taiko drumming, samurai sword demonstrations, and a captivating wedding kimono show, transported guests to the heart of Japan. Hands-on workshops allowed participants to create their own rock gardens and mini-bonsai, while guided gallery tours delved into the history of Japanese Canadians.
A Stunning Kimono Show
One of the highlights of the evening was the breathtaking kimono show. The performance featured a traditional Japanese wedding procession, showcasing the intricate details and symbolism of the various kimono and attire. The audience was mesmerised by the elegance and grace of the models, who wore stunning kimono that represented different roles in a traditional Japanese wedding. The performance culminated in the “san-san-kudo” ceremony, where the bride and groom shared sake from three different-sized cups, symbolising their past, present, and future.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all who attended and contributed to this event.
