Rental Coordinator

Brief Description:
The Rental Coordinator will coordinate facility usage for ongoing weekly and monthly programs at Nikkei Centre that relate to arts, culture, language, and heritage. They will coordinate and oversee facility rental for all external bookings, including one-time, recurring, and long-term.

Hours: 9:30 am – 5pm Tuesday to Saturday (with occasional adjustments to accommodate programming)

Volunteer Coordinator

Brief Description:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment and placement of volunteers in all departments of the museum and cultural centre. They will train and manage volunteer docents, schedule and supervise event volunteers, facilitate digital and in-person education programs and coordinate volunteer recognition. This role will have a 60% volunteer focus and 40% education focus.

Employment Period:
Hours: 9:30 am – 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday (occasional adjustments to accommodate events and programs)

Summer opportunities for students

Collections Assistant

Brief Description:
Two Collections Assistants, under direction from the museum staff, will participate in two projects preserving and making accessible archival material including photographs and textual materials related to the history of Japanese Canadians.

Employment Period:
May 11 – August 28, 2021 (16 weeks)
Hours: 9:30am – 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday (with occasional evenings and weekends)
Salary: $17 /per hour + mercs

Cultural Education Assistant

Brief Description:
The Cultural Education Assistant, under direction from the Culture, Education, and Programs Coordinator, will assist in the organizing and facilitation of summer educational programs, including two sessions of Manga Camp.

Hours: 9:30 am – 5pm Tuesday to Saturday (with occasional adjustments to accommodate programming)
Salary: $17 /per hour + mercs

Event Planning Assistant

Brief Description:
The Event Planning Assistant, under direction from museum and cultural centre staff, will assist in planning the planning and preparation for the annual Nikkei Matsuri Festival September 3-5, 2021.

Employment Period:
May 25 – September 11, 2021 (16 weeks)
Hours: 9:30 am – 5:00pm Tuesday to Saturday or Wednesday to Sunday (alternating weeks; occasional adjustments to accommodate programming)
Salary: $17 /per hour + mercs
