Support Culture & Community: Join the NNMCC Auxiliary
The NNMCC Auxiliary is a group of over 150 dedicated volunteers who support the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre. But more than just volunteers, we are a community of friends.
Together, we share Japanese Canadian traditions and pass them down to future generations in a relaxed, friendly environment. When we aren't helping out at the Centre, we love to socialize, gather for volunteer appreciation dinners, and connect.
Ways You Can Get Involved
Whether you want to work with your hands, practice a craft, or chat with visitors, we have a spot for you:
- Culinary Arts: Help make traditional Japanese treats like mochi and manju.
- Crafts: create handmade crafts for our fairs.
- Sales: Prepare donated items for our markets.
- Green Thumb: Assist with plant sales during our popular springtime markets.
- Event Support: Join the action at our major festivals by helping with sales, directing foot traffic, preparing food, or setup and tear-down.
Our Main Annual Activities
- May: Spring Bazaar
- July: Nikkei Garden Market
- Labour Day Weekend: Nikkei Matsuri
