The Superlative Artistry of Japan Exhibit Opened with Fanfare

Bloom – The Superlative Artistry of Japan Preview Party took place on November 4, 2023. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making it a truly memorable experience. Deputy Consul General Satomi Okagaki and Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley delivered inspiring words during the exhibit opening.

Special thanks to Wagashi Master Eijun Mitsubori for his mesmerizing demonstration of traditional Japanese sweet-making and to the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre Auxiliary members who crafted fresh manju, providing a delectable taste of Japanese confectionery.

We also want to acknowledge Dojin Arts for the tranquil tea service, Kado Sumi’s seasonal ikebana flower arrangements that added a visual feast to the occasion, and Kotononekai’s live koto music for providing a soothing and melodic backdrop to the entire event.

Appreciation goes out to our silent auction supporters whose contributions made a significant impact on our ability to bring cultural experiences to our community.

Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who attended! Your presence and support transformed the afternoon into something truly special. The success of this event is a testament to the shared appreciation for the artistry of Japan.
We hope many people will be able to visit The Superlative Artistry of Japan exhibit while it is on display in Burnaby until January 20, 2024. Check out the exhibit website for more information.
